BOYD C. LUMSDEN, M.D.

Dr. Lumsden joined the Hand and Upper Extremity Center of Northeast Wisconsin in 2004. He is certified by the American Academy or Orthopedic Surgeons. He specializes in traumatic, degenerative, and congenital disorders afflicting the entire upper extremity, including arthroscopic and reconstructive procedures involving the shoulder, elbow, forearm, wrist, hand, and finger. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery with a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Surgery of the Hand.

Dr. Lumsden is a member with the following professional organizations:

American Society for Surgery of the Hand
American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons
Arthroscopic Association of North America
Wisconsin State Medical Society


Dr. Lumsden received his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School. He completed his Orthopedic Surgery residency training at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics in Madison, Wisconsin. He also completed a Hand and Upper Extremity Fellowship at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Dr. Lumsden has given numerous presentations to local, regional, and national audiences on a variety of disorders affecting the upper extremity. Current research interests include Kienbock’s disease, operative treatment of wrist fractures, and athletic injuries of the upper extremity.
