Dr. Bax established the Hand and Upper Extremity Center of Northeast Wisconsin in 1987. It was the first hand and microvascular surgery practice north of Madison and Milwaukee. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery with a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Surgery of the Hand.
Dr. Bax is an active Fellow of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and is a member of the following professional organizations:

Dr. Bax is the Clinical Professor of Hand Surgery at the University of Wisconsin Family Practice Residency in Appleton. He is the former Chief of Surgery at Appleton Medical Center and Theda Clark Medical Center.
Dr. Bax has been published in the prestigious Journal of Hand Surgery and has given numerous lectures to peers, therapists, residents, medical students, and the public on a variety of hand surgery topics.
Dr. Bax received his medical degree from Indiana University. He completed his Orthopedic Surgery residency in Dayton, Ohio, followed by a one-year Fellowship in Hand and Microvascular Surgery which included six months in Tucson, Arizona; three months at Union Memorial Hospital and Shock Trauma in Baltimore, Maryland; and three months at the Microvascular Research Center at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Melbourne, Australia.
